Oh Snap, How Do You Like Them Apples?

As I mentioned previously the New iPad announcement would bring many detractors. One of the most disparaging reports I have read about the event was an OP/ED piece from Jolie O’Dell at VentureBeat: Apple’s press conference showed a brand unraveling

In this OP/ED O’Dell takes Apple to task surmising that due some little nitpicks she observed, she believes they are evidence or telltale signs that Apple is showing “cracks of breaking from the past.”

In her words:
“This wasn’t anything major, just a few minor but glaring inconsistencies: Tim Cook going for the “rumpled executive” look in an untucked shirt, the ambiguous naming of the “new iPad,” (not iPad 3 or iPad HD), the use of a truly horrible pun on a new product’s landing page, and finally, the tie-dyed Apple logo at the presentation’s conclusion.”

A "Truly Horrible Pun!"

She even went as far as saying:

“Today’s event and the tiny but glaring inconsistencies bring up the impossible-to-answer question: Would Steve have green-lit that?”

In response, Matt Thomas has done an excellent job of providing an answer! Yes, yes, he would have.

Thinnovation? Would Steve Jobs really be so cheeky?

The above photo is my favorite example of why O’Dell is wrong. Please hit the link and check out more evidence that Matt has posted (most sarcastically) as to why Apple is doing just fine.

The only unraveling done has been O’Dell’s story.

Side Note: O’Dell’s OP/ED reminds of another very poorly written piece that was based on wild speculation alone without any research to support the claim.

iPad 3 Day – Guaranteed to “disappoint”?

After reading this post at Marco.org I thought I’d run my iPad comic again (I originally posted this when the very first iPad was released).

Yes, the iPad 3 will be announced today and many critics, tech reviewers and all around haters will deride it just from the specs alone. Then Apple will sell a record number and those critics will wonder how they do it. The crazy cycle just continues.

Meanwhile the rest of us (blind, kool-aid drinking sheep) will be happy to continue to use the most elegant mobile platform on an amazing 10″ Retina display (that’s an amazing amount of pixels in your hands).
