Happy Geek Pride Day!
Here’s why May 25th has become Geek Pride Day:
• Towel Day, the day two weeks after Douglas Adams passed in 2001, when hoopy froods keep their towel handy;
• The anniversary of the first Star Wars film, Episode IV: A New Hope, released on May 25, 1977;
• Glorious 25 May, the day in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld when wearing lilac and hard-boiled eggs (and raising awareness around Alzheimer’s research) is appropriate; and
• 5 + 25 + 12 = 42. Which makes this Super Towel Day!

Emerald City Comicon 2012 – Daleks Among Us, Whovian Cosplay – Photos
There was so much Doctor Who cosplay at Emerald City Comicon this year it was almost like a mini WhoCon. I spotted at least 20 Doctor’s (both male and female), 6 TARDIS’s, 10 Amy’s, 2 Rose Tyler’s, 2 Rory’s, 3 River Song’s, 1 Madame Vastra, 2 Gasmasked people (with Teddy Bear too) and 2 Weeping Angels (major creepy). In comparison to last year I only remember a handful of Whovian cosplayers. Seriously, Seattle Whovian’s really made an impression.

It was fortune that our cosplayers chose to be Daleks, they were the only ones we spotted throughout the day. Therefore they were extremely popular, they spent a minimum of 4 hours posing for photos. Of course they loved the attention and were very proud to show off their costumes which were meticulously designed by the eldest and constructed by my talented, seamstress mother-in-law.

Admiral Ackbar speaks: The Erik Bauersfeld interview – not a trap
“Erik Bauersfeld, 90 years old, performed the voices of Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna in “Return of the Jedi.” He’s still never seen the original “Star Wars,” and the recording was a very small job in his respected broadcasting career. But he has developed a nice relationship with fans of the series, returning their letters and refusing to charge money for autographs.” @PeterHartlaub
